So much to see
This manmade miracle is situated less than 25 kilometres from Amsterdam. Those who enjoy walking and cycling have a lot to discover around the ‘Omringdijk’. This 126 kilometre dyke is foremost a stage for art, culture, sports and leisure. The charming 800-year old dyke meanders along a unique route past the most beautiful spots of Westfriesland. This green provincial landmark encloses historic towns, such as Hoorn, Schagen, Medemblik and Enkhuizen. There, the visitor will find numerous monuments and musea, such as the Westfrisian Museum in Hoorn and the Southern Sea Museum in Enkhuizen. Experience this green route through Westfriesland, explore its beautiful landscape and meet the Westfrisian people; discover the many authentic, stretched out villages with their typical ‘stolp’ farms.
So much to do
Conclude a day of leisurely cycling with a diner of Westfrisian local produce along the dyke. Or travel through the colourful tulip fields with the Museum Steam Train, followed by a trip on board an historic motor yacht across the Ijsselmeer from Enkhuizen to Medemblik.
